One
of the real Hero's of South Africa
Pastor
Gustav du Toit, now also known as Dr Gustav du Toit.
On 12 Feb 2004, Coca Cola launched
a national campaign,
which urged south Africans to nominate "real heroes"
in their communities to carry
the Olympic torch when it passed trough Cape Town, South Africa. Driven
by McDonald's
stores nationwide and on-line, the campaign is said to have
garnered 10 674 nominations in
total.
Dr. Gustav du Toit was nominated as one of 10
674 nominations that was made. For
the Athens 2004 Olympic Torch Relay in Cape Town, South Africa,
Coca Cola passed the largest
majority of opportunities, to carry the Olympic Flame, to ordinary
people who are an inspiration
to others. Dr. Gustav du Toit was one of the Olympic Torch
Bearers. Out of the total of nominations
which was 10 674 only a few of South Africa's Heroes were selected
to carry the flame in Cape
Town, South Africa. The Torch traveled throughout the whole
world in many different nations
and also made its turn in South Africa
This was the report
that was written in the weekend Argus of (5th June 2004), a "national newspaper",
concerning Dr. Gustav du Toit.
"A Charismatic church minister,
with a vision to bring change and hope. Gustav du Toit is a living example of how one man can
make a difference. Born in Zambia, Gustav grew up on the East Rand. Feeling a special calling,
he joined the ministry years 30 years ago and has been hard at work ever since. He founded
Lofdal Christian Academy in Kraaifontein, a mission school which educates 90 children from
pre-school to grade 6. On the same site, he built a hospice which cares for 14 + terminally-ill
patients, many dying from HIV/Aids and cancer. He also created a soup kitchen, which provides
more than 18 600 young people e and hungry children with a nourishing meal, seven days a week.
In keeping with his phenomenal capacity to give, Gustav du Toit provides three students with
the funds needed to pursue their tertiary education. This year, he dreams of building an orphanage".
|
| Pastor Gustav du Toit,
was also granted a physiology Dr's degree at the University of Texas, U.S.A. Dr. Gustav du
Toit believes that we are not born only to make heaven, but to make a difference on the face
of the earth. At Lofdal World Prayer Centre we also believe that every person was born for
these 5 purposes: |
|
- You were planned
for God's pleasure - that is to worship God.
- You were formed for a family - That is fellowship
- You were created
to be Christ like - That is discipleship.
- You were shaped
for service - That is ministry.
- You were made
for a mission - That is evangelism.
|
| Therefore, everything
we do at Lofdal World Prayer Centre and all the extended projects and departments currently
running, is only a tool to get the harvest into the Kingdom of God. It's all about the harvest,
getting people to live out their dreams and accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. Bringing
restoration and change in the lives of lost and dying people, and in this way bringing change
to our surrounding communities, Cape Town, South Africa and the rest of the World. |
